Not really taht hard provided you keep them longer than a few years 
It's keeping them long enough that is the hard part.. Then It's probably hard to breed them too.. But still 99% of all people that try in my opinion don't keep them half as long as they need to

i believe he had his pair for 5 years+, this was the first time they spawned and only 6 fry survived
no idea how he got them to breed, even i was shocked..but i guess some people are just lucky
