Just picked these Yellowtail Cudas up today. I figured getting 3 would be my best bet cuz i know they r a schooling fish and 2 never works good. they r only about 3.5" but are super active and already eating 1" feeder danios. Will be putting them in a bigger tank once they hit about 5" which shouldnt be too long from now.

Thanks. any tips for me? never kept these guys before but i figured they shouldnt be too different from tigers. except being scaleless and probably less hardy.

red tails are my fave. is that the 150 gallon they are in?

They are fairly delicate. I only tried them once, it was back before I managed to tame my GATF. He ended up slaughtering all of them the first night they were in the tank. Didn't even eat them. Haven't tried again since.

nope a 50. the 150 just needs to be tiled and then filled and cycled. ill be puttin them in it tho until i figure out what exactly i want in it for long term. im really trying to find a tank with 60x18x18 dimensions to go under my 150. but it seems almost impossible to get one like that. its large enough for them right now i just want a wider one for them once they hit about 5". the extra foot in length would help a lot too.

ahh well hopefully these guys go a little better. i noticed the one has a scratch on his back im guessing from one of his tank mates but im keeping my tank around 82 right now with a small amount of salt to speed up the healing and to prevent any ick.

With these guys should i just use tinfoil barbs as dithers or is there a better choice. I wana get these guys on pellets fairly soon.

Aces are infamously hard to break off of live, harder even than ATF. I suppose you could try the teacher fish method. Nothing lost in trying I suppose.

However, Aces are way more timid that ATF and I'm concerned that the barbs will feed so aggressively that the Aces won't get food. That and barbs can be bullies. If they get it together and start competing, you'll break them. If they don't the barbs will either kill them directly or cause them to starve.

One things for sure, it'll be a heck of a trial by fire for the Aces.
