Nice fish but that eel doens't look quite like a spiney eel. Looks like a Tire Track Eeel. But then again the tail looks like a spiney eel. Maybe a hyrbid between a Spiney and a Tire Track?? It could even be a tire track eel with very little markings.

well..doesnt quite matter now..just found it dead..did an autopsy and found a tiny FISHING HOOK..inside of it...some people..

thats horrible! who would do that with an aquarium fish.....i guess it happens to normal fish all the time (i love fishing) but seriously why would you do that?
 
he was pretty nice..good size too..makes me wonder if it was the pet store employees that did it..or if some stupid kid had it and decided to go fishing in his tank..and then donate the fish to the store..the guy who netted him did seem a little hesitant.

damn, i wish i could find a tt like that around here, or atleast of that size, to bad he passed away. tire tracks are spiny eels btw
