I thought one of the koi looked like it had red in its fins, so everyone had a health check this morning.
I kinda like that the orange on the back is fading out.

This gal has been going all yellow just like I hoped she would

This one might find itself on the chopping block. I’m not sure why I picked it in the first place:/

I just love this guy so much

My husbands butterfly. I hate to tell him, but it looks like it has yellow starting on its nose:(

This one reminds me of a koi we lost. Only it isn’t deformed like she was.
My daughter picked it out.

My other daughter picked this one out. I’m liking it more and more as it grows. View attachment 1384450

And my son picked this one. Not a fan. It’s so muddy looking.

And my two fancies. I’m kinda disappointed they really haven’t put on any size. In fact they don’t seem to have grown much, if at all.

I know I’ve heard the name, but I’m drawing a blank on who it is. Lol

I keep pushing for my pond but the wife for some unknown reason is very resistant to it. I have over 500 gallons in the house and that's ok??? anyway i really like your koi even the one that might be getting rehomed.

Ah, yes. That was from a long while ago isn’t it. Haha.

That’s funny she’s fine with all the tanks but not a pond. We started with a pond and that opened the door to tanks. I’m not sure my husband had any idea one small 175g menards pond would lead to all this. Lol

I made a pond out of a free horse trough. let her buy a koi and a shubunkin thinking this might help get her used to the idea lol. she told me last night that she doesn't want to lose the yard , that the dog needs the room.

Oh, yeah that can make it tough.
At our last house I wanted a pond so bad, but there was no reasonable place to put one. The yard was hardly big enough for our kids to have play space and have a fire pit.

I shut down the pond and took final measurements of the koi.
These two are 12”
The platinum is still holding. Not going yellow just yet.

These next ones are all 10”

^This guy is looking nicer color/pattern wise, but his “little fin” is so much more noticeable:/

^This one looks worse. I like the fins, hate the body.

^this one lightened up. I’m sure they bright yellow will come back next summer, but for now it is very light.
9” and looking nicer each time I pull him.

Getting nice and chunky, but not as much growth as I was hoping for this year.
