New additions for the addiction!!

I gave up the cichlid lifestyle over 10 years ago and haven't looked back. It's nice not having to worry what fish got killed or beat up.

I don't deny still liking them I just don't miss the bloodbath.

I am finding more and more barbs to love! Even the predatory fish don`t kill off their kindred.

I gave up cichlids a few years ago and found I had to go back to having at least one cichlid tank.

I had an african 120 mbuna aquarium and with the exception of some angels in my 225 I had mostly communtiy fish.
I had to downsize the 225 as it didn't fit into my new house and all of my africans died from a heater malfunction.

Currently I have a really nice 120g with lots of live plants, a powerhead and all kinds of little community fish. I find the Harlequin rasboras to be really interesting subjects. Livebearers are always full of personality and I enjoy how you can breed them easily without having to have half of your stock cowering in the corner.

Currently growing out peaceful cichlids with the community fish in a SA biotope, I have 5 altifrons, 3 heckelii and 4 tapajós and since I added the cichlids I have had literally no problems. The tank is relaxing to watch it has lots of color and activity and no violence.

Its always good to keep a cichlid tank because you will inevitably want to go back at some point, but community fish are so unbelievably underrated and there are so many barb and tetra species available these days some of which rival cichlids in size and color.
