Tons of threads said dont add cichlids with gars.. i had to do it anyways.
One gar is 14" and pretty fat the other is same length not as fat.. Basses are 9", 12" and 12.5 inches... The basses messed with it for a little while but they always do that to new additions to the tank. I really hope this will work out. They look great thanks to hbluehunter!!

They look great in there, hope the pbass calm down and they all get along.

the peacock basses haven't been messing with the gars much.. i hope it stays that way.

You might not see much aggression from the pbass towards the gar. But what might end up being a problem is the pbass feeding response. When I had pbass, they hit the food like there was no tomorrow, a very aggressive feeding response. I ended up getting rid of them because the way they responded to food was freaking out my florida gar. Gar can be very skittish, although it varies from fish to fish. If yours end up getting freaked out by the pbass feeding, then you may have to separate.

Also, my pbass would vacuum up any food that his the water, so the gar was having trouble getting enough food. You may have to target feed the gar if the bass won't leave anything for them.

But nice looking gar, and nice looking pbass as well. I hope the combo continues to work for you.

update..
moved the tsn because bass was whoopin it's ass.. tsn will return hopefully in 2 months or so (hopefully he gets heals up nicely and grows 3-5 inches longer and a couple inches in thickness..) it's been relocated to a friend's aquarium for the time being. bass and gars both getting a long nicely. I feed basses first with Hikari Md than feed the gars next with cut fish/mkt shrimp..

Very nice!

I just recently added 2 Floridas in with my bass. I hope it works out for us both! Like you, my bass (actually just my Mono in particular) showed aggression towards the Gars at first. But now, once they got use to their new tankmates, they ignore them.

No pics yet. I'll be sure and post some soon. I was worried about them not getting any food too. The Gars are around 8", and my bass range from maybe 8"-12", and I have a greedy Oscar in there too. I put a plant in the tank kinda near one side of the tank where the gars chill. The shrimp I drop in on that side is kinda ignored by the bass. Yesterday, I watched one of the Gars go to the bottom and eat a big chunk of shrimp.
