i dunno.....palmas have a much more rounded off head.....this one has a very squared off head and has the same markings as this one -> http://www.polypterus.info/p_lapradei.htm

you were right it is not a palmas. that is a lapradei!!
very nice price also great pick up. make sure you post some pics when you get it in the new tank.
