Lol change it now. I believe bright red gravel is a major turn-off for bettas! I wouldn't mind getting a betta myself, I like the red and blue dragon scale that has pics floating around somewhere, but I've never seen it's like in lfs near me. I think the flagtail was a fluke and I blame my ornate. Fingers crossed it wasn't a deliberate eye grab- it happened at night so I don't think the eye was targeted.

the male has made bubble nests before, and two have breeding stripes. I'm thinking I'm changing grAvel today or Sunday. I find females look a bit like miniature wolf fish and you can keep them in groups, and if your lucky you could keep a male with a group of females which looks awesome, I feel I succeeded thanks to my salicin balloon Molly that receives most of the aggression from the betta, and the fact my females 'look out' for eachother.

Sorry misprint there. I should have said, my chocolates do not like zucchini. Haven't tried zuchini with flagtail, but it should work since flagtails are herbivores. Get some veggie wafers for the flagtail, it'll thank you for it.

What are you going for? Gravel or sand? I highly recommend b&q playsand. Cheap, looks good and though it is easily kicked up that won't be an issue with small fish. I have pfs in the 180 still cheap but not as cheap as the playsand.

my parents hate sand, so I'm using a white gravel mixed with 25% natural gravel.

Lol are they mad? Sand is awesome, looks good, easy to keep clean. Do you hate sand pole? Maybe time to put your foot down lol. Unless you prefer gravel, in which case gravel it is.

I would love sand, and I prefer it, but they prefer gravel. I will keep trying to get sand though.

My 55 and my 10 have sand and I couldn't be happier. All the fish love it, it's easy to clean, and looks pretty darn good.
