okay, just got the little dude, or dudette. ah anyways, i know everything about them that's told int the definative guide by E_americanus(http://aquaticpredators.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=11173), but still pretty worried cause i've heard that they aren't easy to keep alive. so, any tips on bringing them into maturity?

s/he's ard 3.5" now, and in a 10gal, can see him hovering at the bottom right of this pic. he'll be going into the 120gal with gars, bichirs and SAL

very sweet baby..best of luck with him..

oddball can help indeed. A few big tips are...
keep the water warm as well as the air above it, since they need to keep their labarynth organism well and developing
Always, Always feed. Feed in small regular portions. They need to eat ALL the time, but not large meals
Lots of space, not the traditional amount for a fish its size

--thanks for all the comments guys.

okay, WHERE IS ODDBALL?!?! haha nah i hope he'll chime in when he gets the time.

water warm as in 27degC is fine? or should i bump to 29....30? around this region the temp averages around 30degC

okay im feeding like this now, one cube of frozen blood worms in the morn, one cube in the evening, and 2 cubes in the night. tankmates are 2.5" ornate bichir, 3" senegal bichir and 6" SAL, is this enough?

the af is 3.5" now, in a 2', 1', 1'--moving him to a 4', 2', 2' when he catches up with the others and eventually a 6', 3'/4', 3' when the time comes, in maybe 2+ yrs?-well that's the plan anyways

Wow... just did a quick search on African aros not many sucsessful with raising this fish.
You definetly have your work cut out for you you, good luck with this little guy.

They need to eat all the time. Must be a constant supply of black worms or brine shrimp. YEs they are very fragile. I would say 95% the are imported neve make it to adult hood:(
