hey i just got a 4 inch african arow for $20 from my lfs is that good also his tail is messed up with somebite marks ,but it should grow back soon just the fins a little but whats is the growth rate on these and what do i feed at this size i am trying brine shrimp and pellets but he has not eaten, also he is in a 30 g grow out

i think you got a bargain at that price - im sure Hao, Madding and Xander will be able to help you out with what to feed etc as they have all successfully kept and raised afros before
just feed them bloodworms. if they don't seem to eat them then cut the bloodworms up, mine ate that better. also leave some sand substrate cos they swallow sand when they eat too to help them digest the food. they need to be fed a couple of times a day, try from 5-6 times a day, with about a cube of FBWs. see if he takes the worms whole, if not cut them up and throw em in. i would also suggest using a sponge pre filter so that he can eat the FBWs before they get sucked in. they are really sensitive fish and really beautiful. they need soooo much care. i've raised one before but he died about a month later cos my water was ****ed during a change and i didn't monitor it. i bought a 6 feet tank just to raise another one up maybe later this year. all the best with your afro man. I can't find it...our lfs had one about a month ago like $30 he was saying there only availble a couple times a yr for some reason
k so my arow does'nt eat all i have is flakes, mysis shrimo, and mini tiny pellets , he does eat the sand though? But i measured him to be 2.75", here are the pics and his growout tank,p.s sand was added to the growout after pics were taken
