k ima keep try and feed shrimp righ tnow , if not i am geting bloodworms

I went to feed it and he was dead i guess he was starved to long because he was looking very skinny :(

i wonder if it isn't better to set up an (over)planted system with only a bubble-filter and let daphnia and scuds get established in it for a good few months, then introduce the little planktonivore to an already food-rich system rather than trying to feed something so notoriously finicky?
Circumbus, is something like this in your plan?

When I manage to import my marbled knife that'll be my plan. Crud-water is already on the brew :)

Sorry to hear that...

I had a Afrowana in my "shopping list" for some time now.. However, after some research and reading experiences like yours..I am hesitant to get a baby Afrowana.. These guys are really really difficult to grow-out.

Good luck,

yeah ima try again ima have my lfs get me another but this time ima have blood worms and little jaguar fry in the tank with him since fresh jaguar fry are small so he might eat those, but that was a waste of $20

A better option is live blackworms. No need for little jaguar fry. They won't eat it(probably just kill it). Young African Aros require food constantly. What I used to do is every morning throw in alot of live blackworm(around 3-4 spoonful). I did 90% waterchange every week. But for you, I would suggest 40%-50% waterchange every 3-4 days. So nitrates and etc won't be high from feeding it alot, also waterchange will help it grow faster out of the danger size. Once it's around 5"-6", you can start training it onto other food(not by starving tho). If you have any questions, feel free to pm me.

Sorry for you lose!:/ Now try again, one day soon it will look like this... Feed feed feed!!! Krill, smashed shrimps, bloodworms, and so on! DSC_0678.JPG :)
