After the mysterious disappearance of my last CK, I've been looking for a new one. None of the LFS had any so I was forced to check at the notoriously, ludicrously over-priced Aquarium Adventure in Parma Ohio. They've got just about the best selection around, though. (They've also got about 3 full-size RTCs and 2 TSNs, as well as an absolutely GORGEOUS full grown long-fin albino tiger Oscar.)
So I went to take a look around yesterday and saw a tank with a few baby Aros and noticed that the fish listed contained a couple CKs. The CK was priced at $99.99 but was crossed-off and Albinos were listed at $40.00.
After totally scouring the tank, I saw one albino hiding in the upper right corner behind a rock pile, but looked long, thin and really ratty. Then I see a second one swim out that looked fat and beautiful, about 7"+. I'd made up my mind to buy the second one when the CK stuck his head out of a stump. He came out and made a quick pass and looked awesome. I went and got someone and told them to bag up the thick albino (wasn't about to pay 100 bones for a 9" CK).
The surprise at the register is that he was 50% off (I guess with my discount card), so he was "only" 20 bucks.
I inquired and found that he was eating feeders, so I starved him yesterday and went out and bought some worms today. I dropped the first one in about an hour ago and he didn't see it sink by him. So I dropped one right in front of him that sat on some coral he hides behind, he stared at it for a few seconds and gulped it down - I'm a happy guy.
Of course it's not an albino, just a Golden morph, but he's fat, healthy and eating worms.
Nice to have a CK back in my tank. That brings the grand total up to 3 Knifes - 1 Trumpet, 1 African Brown and the new CK.
Good stuff.
