how big of a tank do the cats need? i saw them in the tk vid and liked them. yeah Bic deffinently isnt a picky eater. youll be able to get close to him soon, like you said, he'll come around. cant wait for the vid!!!!:headbang2 (ill take the smaller cat:grinno: )

Featherfins stay under 10", usually more like 8". Like any good cat, as soon as they smell food, he's out and about.
I can highly recommend them, not aggressive at all but hiders and skittish at first. I thought my small one died or was eaten for the first 3 weeks I had him. Then one day I saw him zipping around and coming out to hit the shrimp pellets.

I'll see if I can get another vid of the CK eating a worm tomorrow morning. It was like watching him wrestle with a live piece of spaghetti.

well i still dont know how big of a tank the cats need but thank you for telling me how big they get anyway. there attitude sounds exactly like my upside-down cats. exept there ALWAYS hiders and skittish. oh and your words could make anyone at an italian resturant drop there fork-fulls of spaghetti and leave.:grinno:

Synodontis Eupterus = Featherfins = Upside-down Cats. I think they'd be fine in a 55, but a 75 sure wouldn't hurt.

Olive Garden, HERE I COME!

I've got 3 eruptous synos and they hide a lot too, one is double the size of the others and i've had them for the same amount of time as the rest.

My little guy is between 2.5"-3". My larger one is almost 7" and is fat, thick and a hog. The little one hides in the big structure and the big one hides in the little structure with it's tail hanging out, Ostrich style!

Here's the vid of my Clown almost eating (he missed the worm). Also includes the Trumpet and Syno in rare daytime appearances - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xiXeL0qPCAI
I just upped it, so it'll probably take a good 30 minutes to become active.

Sorry for window glare on the tank.

Thanks. He's not diggin' the worm thang too much yet. My O on the other hand, is all too happy to come in and Hoover up the uneaten wiggler.

I actually had the coolest thing happen tonight while feeding them - I've been reaching in and picking up the worms that get by the CK to either try and re-feed to him or I'll give them to someone else.
The Syno spent most of the day out and about for some reason and was very close by when I was picking up the worm. It surprised me that he didn't swim away when my hand was right by him, so I offered him the worm AND HE TOOK IT FROM MY HAND. I was amazed and of course no one else was around to see it!
I doubt he'll ever do that again, but it was so cool. Now for the CK to take note...
He'll come out and start swimming around as soon as the lights are off, but it's straight back to his corner as soon as he sees me. :irked:
