New Aquarium, Looking to do it right.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Congrats on on the new tank! Just as a word of warning: On this forum as well as all other forums there some people with heads bigger than their tanks.

Some people know their stuff and give advice while others think they are superior and give orders. (Makes them feel good I guess) But once you wade through that crap MFK is the best fish forum ive ever been a part of! Anything you want to know about Monster fish can be found here.

My advice would be to go fishless and cycle it with ammonia. Or another fairly safe way to go is cycling with tetras, but i would only do this if you can get some filter media from another established tank. This way your tank should cycle very fast and cause minnimal stress on the tetras. I helped cycle my brothers tank this way using a slice of my filter sponge and his tank cycled in 4 days.

Good Luck!

The tank that I am getting has filter media that is established, so I am just weighing the pro and cons. Thanks for the advice.

That will be your "seeding" bacteria then.
