thanks everyone for the ideas. i went and bought a fluval fx5 and as far as fish im still looking and reading up on them. thanks again.

Thats a great choice for a filter. Personally i own two of them i would give them about an overall rating of 7 out of 10. Though i choose Ehiem filters anyday over anything.

For stock I personally am a big fan of Parachromis genus, Amphilophus genus and herichthys genus. Any species from those three genus I adore.

You should be proud of your self honestly. Most people starting out jump into things they have no clue what to do and how to care for the individual species. Seems like you will be very successful from the start as you are already heading in good direction.

think long and hard on what fish you want my friend. long and hard....

for some fish i would suggest maybe ebjd or jd or green terrors, flowerhorns, or tiger motas, and or birchirs.

+1!!! for me thats the hardest part is to figure out what you want your final stock to be, the more i researched the more fish i found that i absolutely loved and wanted to have, im still rearranging my stock a bit a year later and am definitely happier with my current stock but still not exactly how i want it set up, and of course the need for more tanks or at least a larger one is always there lol

make sure u research what fish your thinking of keeping, the net is a great source..btw not everything u read will be exact. Experience and mistakes is a beta teacher

thanks and keep the ideas rolling. im gonna run some hangover filters too. im not gonna be able to put fish in for abount another 2 weeks or so cuz im waiting for the filter to come in so i got plenty of time to research more fish. am i gonna have to run a uv filter or should i?
