Hi there. am new to all this and have just bought two archer fish from my local good fish shop. they do not seem to be interested in the crickets i put in for them. I have a 200 litre tank that is 3 and half foot long. this is half filled with water and i have some fake plants that are used in retile set ups the type that hang down etc. have two 30w tube lights that are built into the hood of the tank as it is a fluval roma 200. just wondering if the light is too bright in the tank for the fish to see as have crickets in there but need a little advice on if the light is too much or whether the fake plants are too bushy so bugs cant be seen. the fish shop told me that they were feeding the archer fish on frozen blood worm every 3 days so another question was how often to feed and how much they do eat. i mean if there is a cricket in there and they see it would they eat it no matter how full they were. what sort of things do you guys feed your archer fish, is there a better type of cricket or insect that the like. Thanks in advance for any help you can give.
Jason.

Give them a little time to settle, as I found that they take some time to get used to their surroundings.

thanks for that. they seem keen looking along the top of the water but dont seem to know what to do. These guys only small bout 3.5 to 4" so dont know if they need smaller crickets. had some medium silent crickets and they seemed scared when one fell in the water and struggle. if you can give me some advice on how often i need to feed them as dont want to starve em.
thanks again. jason

It's best to start off with food that doesn't move, like frozen stuff. They don't get startled, and I'm prety sure they like the taste too.

Once they've settled in, try the smallest sized crickets you can find, or if you can, small flies. Ultimately though, you should be aiming for a diet consisting of a staple floating dry food with relatively regular live or frozen feedings.

thanks for all the advice. they been taking crickets just seemed a bit rusty. have given them some frozen bloodworm too so they seem happy. am gonna get some small crickets so they not too much of a mouthful for them. fingers crossed they will get to like their new home. J
