hmm.. the jar isnt really bug enuf to eat them...and the tank that they were in at the LFS wasnt brackish.. so it's got me stunned! the thing that really gets me is that 1 archer totally disappeared! i searched high n low for it both in n outside the tank... but nothing...

Do you have a dog or cat? Maybe it fell on the floor and got eaten? Or do you have any other large fish in the tank?

The jardini could have killed and eaten one of those fish. Probably if it was really hungry though.
