i hafta have a natural looking tank. bare bottom doesnt look right to me. i know people do it for maintenance reasons, but what if you kept the tank fairly heavily planted with shorter plants. they will help with the nitrates and since the aro stays up top, it wont really be affected. i feel it would benefit a fishkeeper more than the barebottom set ups.
I don't like bare tanks too. Look weird...
