how 'bout if the aro's come with a captivity certificate?? is it still illegal??

@jamie: nice tank you have. it's always my dream to mix an aro with stingray.. is it ok to keep a stingray in a blank tank (no substrate at all)??

yes...In all of the United States asian aros are illegal, only zoos, research or public aquariums can posses. There are even some states where silver, black or jardini arowana are illegal.

The private individule can not obtain any type permit or paperwork to make them legal.
 
I love baby silvers then when it reaches 3 -4 feet you can see the size difference.

A lot of people keep them in bare bottom tanks, I have thought about it but they like to hide in the sand some times so I have always kept them with substrate.
 
the problem if i using any substrate is always quite hard for me to siphon it without sucking the substrate too..

I use a siphon to clean my tank and it does suck up some sand but I am just careful. Bare bottom seems to be a lot easier to clean tho. I like how bare bottom looks I just feel like if the rays get stressed out they have no where to hide.

I don't know the whole reason, but from what I understand people were letting them go when the got too big for their tanks.
