just got my new african arowana aka afro today, hes about 3-4 inches and looking good. how many water changes should i do a week and how much? is 20% everyday good.
thanks

i dont test for ph, the afro is currently in my big tank but i put a divider. the dimensions are 3'x2'x2'. should i do water change 50% a week or 20% everyday
and the temp is at 83
thanks

make sure one that small has access to food all day.

yes they have acess i feed live black worms. so how much percent waterchange is ideal to change for them? 50% a week or 20% daily?

There's so many variables in that question. There's not really a set # for water changes. You need to check your water parameters and change water accordingly.
If your water parameters are good then there's no need to change the water or LOL most likely your test kit is bad :)

Large water changes cause more stress than more frequent smaller water changes.
With the younger African Aros you need to constantly feed and there's a lot of uneaten food. Your best bet is to set up a constant trickle system. Test the water frequently and throttle up or back the water flow into your tank until you get good numbers.
Good luck and take some pics! :)

ok well i usually do about 40% a week for my regular stock, but im thinking about 20% every 3 days so 2 times a week.

Your big tank does not seem very big for Arowanas...

8'x2'x2' thats better than most people on here that have like 60-100 gallons with aros. :) its good enough for me
