hello, im planning on buying either a 5.5 inch jardini or a 4 inch silver?
the lfs is selling the jar for 48 and the silver for 28, which is the better deal? which would you suggest?

and once i get the fish home, ill get its strength up and feed it its regular food that the lfs were feeding it. Will it be ok to start trying to convert them at their current size(4 inches and 5.5 inches)?

any tips on converting?

Personally i like the Silver Arro over the Jardini just because i think they are more visually pleasing but thats just me. If you want to drop 48$ on the Jardini because you prefer that over the silver by all means go for it. Its a personal preference imo.
And they should be just fine converting into your tank just make sure all the levels are where they should be( ammonia,ph, nitrate, nitrite, etc...) and you will be fine.

what size tank are you going to be keeping them in

planning to keep the aro in a 55 for now, my cousin is giving me his 125 in a couple of days, and i gotta cycle that.

what are the methods to converting to pellets?

1. starving
2. marinating in seachem garlic,
3.????
4.????

also how would you suggest moving the aro if it is 8+ inches. i just want to know just in case i would have to know.

ive used a pillow case moving my silver to the new tank... not a good idea since he lost some scales, etc. next i used two heavy duty clear garbage bags, worked like a charm.

That arro will grow rapidly compared to your baby datnoides. I'd worry about 6 months to a year down the line.

But if your cycling another tank, at least you can seperate them if needed. I've read on this arro forum that 6 inch is a good size to start converting to dry foods. (my 6 inch jar after 17 days is now eating food sticks, I used starve and marinate method. If you can convert datnoids, then arros are easy!

im planning on selling my dats. and any tips on the care of aros?

so i should get a jardini if i just want that one fish in the tank?

and is the silver an aggressive fish towards other smaller fish?

Jardini is way more aggressive than Silver aros. You can try to keep 2 silver and 1 jar in ur 125 tank. ATM u should get it when their small.
Silver= wc and feeding make them grow faster
Jardini = goes by time.
