Nice lookin aros, definitly will need a bigger tank and keep your old one handy in case you need to seperate that jardini. Easiest way to tell the diff. between an asian aro and a jar, is the asian aro will only have 5 rows of scales on its side.

How big of a tank would i need? :nilly:

my tank is a 80g. i bought my silver aro's for 55$ RMB ( china )each and the jardini for 130RMB . 1$ u.s. = 7.58RMB(china) :]

im pretty sure i need to upgrade my tank .. prolly get a 180? 250?

I just paid 75$ US for my jar last month...must be nice :) anyway congrats on your new pets. IMO jars can be kept in a 180 fairly comfortably for life, they would definetly benefit from a bigger tank but what fish wouldn't?

As for the silvers...a lot of people say 180 is a minimum. I don't really agree...keep in mind they can reach FOUR FEET in length. I've never seen one that big but I've seen plenty of THREE footers. So in a 180 (usually 6X2), a three foot aro has two lengths of swimming space and barely any space to turn around...

I'd say 300 minimum and I'd really suggest something bigger...

agreed, i say go for at least 300g if u wish to house all 3 of those monsters. and tanks are so cheap in china, well...comparatively speaking. and i can't believe u got those monsters for soooo cheap...:WHOA: , i knew fishes in china are relatively cheaper, but i had no idea they're that cheap, very nice ^^

u should realli take the advantage of being able to keep asian aros, and get some super red :headbang2

o, and nice avatar, stig rocks

Depends on your aro and its age, seems the average Silver aro grows to 24" within the first 2 years then growth slows. Maybe up to 30" within 5-10 years, really don't know for sure but I don't see people posting much about there 30"plus aros.

I beleive you should provide a silver aro a tank footprint at least 3x the aro's length by 1x the aro's length. So if ya figure for a 30" fish then a tank that is 90" x 30" would be great. A 300g wide (96" x 30" x 24") would be Ideal for both the silver and the jar.

If ya can get them into a 180gallon 6' x 2' x 2' you would be OK for a couple years. Currently that is what my 24" & 20" silvers are housed in

Yep not a green but a Jardini.

r u the stig ?
