New Arowana

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Drop eye is caused by diet. It is fatty deposits behind the eyes. How you house them has nothing to do with it. It is from too high of fat content in diet and general overfeeding. Kind of like why my stomach bulges.

How can you provide a good, low fat diet? I heard feeding a lot of insects is pretty good because they are mainly just protein.

I noticed that no one mentioned heat. Heat is important for a baby arowana. It speeds up thier metabolism, induces thier appetite, which allows them to grow faster. I used to keep my temp @ around 90°f.

90?? That sounds a little warm. I think 86°F would be the max I'd go but if it worked maybe ill give it a try.

Yeah, 90° is warm to the touch. I wouldn't maintain that temp long term, just during the treatment duration. Babies respond well to higher temps, then not needed so much when mature unless treating injuries. I don't use heaters @ all now though I do live in Hawaii. It's always warm....yaahhhh!:)

Same. No heaters needed for me in Florida.
