When you go to the store, make sure you read the label of the Melafix that you buy. They sell 2 kinds. One is normal strength, the other is double. I've seen a few posts in "Lessons Learned" where they buy the double on accident, and then double dose. Good luck.

You should probably buy the big bottle, which would be the "double". Since you have a big tank, you would go through the small one in a matter of days. The big bottle sells here for roughly $45, I believe?

Price match the mela-fix from petsmart. Make sure you remove any carbon from your filters. Nice pick-up and good luck.

I would use melafix as well. My arowanas injuries heal very quickly when I use it. I get the pond strength melafix because I'm cheap .

Other than the bashed face that arowana appears to be in wonderful shape. He'll heal up in no time. They're very fast healers.
I'm sure you have read about their ability to jump, and I would just like to reiterate the need of securing the lids. It's very important even if the fish seems calm.

In regards to lighting, you can use pretty much watever you want. Personally, I like the way a 6700k bulb looks. I just use shop lights hanging above my arowana tanks.
