New arrivals today from Wet Spot

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have had other rheophillic type cichlids such as Theraps (wesseli and irregularis), Paraneetroplus (bulleri and gibbiceps) and all 3 Tomocichla in the past, and I believe because I didn't provide enough current, they were prone to disease and inter species aggression.
I am determined to not let that happen again, so even though the tank is a "tall" style, the current is such that whirlpools are evident on the substrate, and a counter current area is present.
And though they are quite small +/- 1", they seem totally unphased by the strong water movement. I'm using a 2100gph pump, with flow split between 4 tanks (totaling approx 300gals), with the heaviest flow now focused toward the lents 40 gal growout.

Glad you picked some of these guys up. I had some around this same time last year and lost them a few months later right after a water change. To this day i still have no idea what happened. So of course i decided to give them a try again. This fish and irregularis have been my holy grail for quite some time. Good luck with yours and please keep us updated with their progress as i will do the same.

Glad you got some! Trust me, I literally stalked Anthony every 2 weeks for 8 months about these fish! I got 10 of them and 10 T. Coeruleus and put them in there own 135g. I still have 2 lents left from the last time he had them so I'm reasonably confident I'll have a nice group. They were well packaged and eating out of the bag and I'm pretty sure they never made the actual list do to size at under an inch. The Coeruleus were actually the more expensive fish and its cool to see the differences between these 2 close cousins. If I could just get some Asfraci and Irregulare again my holy grails will be attained. Rusty Wessel (he provided the lents and coeruleus to wetspot) has Irregulare but no breeding. Really nice guy by the way, he was very accommodating with my annoying questions. Best of luck!

Nice pickup Duanes
I've ordered from Anthony several times, not the best customer service I've experienced when I was giving him my business.
However Wetspot does have quality fish at good prices/shipping

one of today's shots, all 8 are doing well.
Interesting about the water change incident, I have been doing small water changes either every day, or every other day in order to avoid any drastic shock, but still maintain 2-5 ppm nitrate and other high water quality parameters.
I lost all but one asfraci in a pump/plugged PVC pipe accident not too long ago, so I gave the lone remaining individual to an MAS/ACA member here with a trio of asfraci.
Keeping just one individual seemed a waste to me, and at least by adding it to a group, there will be a chance for it to be breeding in the future.
