New ATF ID

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I like how they're so similar to a goliath. So what makes you think mine might be a brevis?

Sent from my iPhone using MonsterAquariaNetwork app

It looks to have a thicker head and body than a fatf would and it appears to have a whole bunch of scales between the LL and the pelvic fin insertion. Brevis has 3-4 scales while forskahlii has two.

Better pics might prove me wrong, though.

For motivation, a 27" brevis-

I need one of these guys asap!
I may have to go fish hunting next week if i go thru the bay.

Thanks for the input everyone. Here are some pics I just snapped which I also included an update of my goliath. I know they're not the best pictures but I hope they are good enough for you guys to make a positive ID.

I strongly favor brevis, but he needs to grow a bit before I feel comfortable calling it. Are his pelvic and anal fins red like the lower lobe of his tail, or are they just clear?

I just checked right now and they're clear.

Strong checkmark in favor of brevis. I'm really curious to see this guy grow out alongside my forskahlii. I can't wait to see how he develops once you've gotten him up to 8" or so. It'll help clarify the issue between the two. IMO, these two are harder to tell apart than VATF and TATF.

I'm happy whether it's brevis or not. It's going to be fun to see how this guy develops and I'll be sure to update regularly on this new guy. Thanks for your input Rob.
