As long as he is eating and you keep up on Water Changes, he should be back to 100% in a month. He dont look that bad.

I got my guy with the top part of his back showing (literally... down to the stripped white meat). Took him about 4 days for the white to darken up and start healing. He got beat up by a Aro also (thats how I got him or I would of never had this guy, so I thank the Aro:naughty:). Tail was messed up badly and his front set of teeth were gone.
Now, he has a scar on the upper back that you cant see unless you look hard. All teeth grew back except the front 2. Id say ball park of 2 months to be back to show quality.

The recovery rate on them is amazing!

i noticed the fins take longer than the body to regenerate for this fish. they can easily go couple weeks with out eating, yours looks like it has some fat on it.

i had a fish that jumped tank. He was big, about 15inches or so and difficult to catch. after I put him back in, most of his fins were tattered, and he sat belly up on the bottom of the tank for 8 days, rubbing all the skin down to bare flesh it's upper side and dorsal fin good as gone. On the 8th day, it turned right side up, started eating shortly after and made a recovery. These are very resilient fish as long as the right environment is provided.

show us a photo in 2 months.
