New AZUL: need advice please

I've moved the Azul into my 120G tank. Its living with:
16 clown loaches
9" Tigrinus
5" African Arowana
2" Cory catfish (can't believe its never been eaten or attacked!)
6" Delhezi
The Azul is now eating smelt as I drop it into the tank, and has put on some size. This fish always swims towards the front of the tank waiting to be fed! You guys think smelt is better than pellets? Though I'll stuff some pellets in the smelt soon!!

Good to hear its acting normal now. I to gut load the feeders i feed. I just slice a hole in them and just push massivore pellets into them and drop them into the tank...Yeah not the greatest way but it works...you might want to try it as the fish gets bigger or if it only wants live.
Love the fish! So damn active, no wonder you guys love your cichla! It's my lst!
At what size do Azuls get some nice color?
I have noticed that fish feed exclusively on pellets (massivore) grow thick but don't attain length as quickly as feeding it meatly foods (shrimp, smelt, etc). That's what has happened to my Tigrinus, so I'm feeding that thick fish a little smelt each day now. Thanks.
