New Baby Altums

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Very nice Tom! Once you get them through the initial QT, they should be tough as nails. Just don't mess with the tank - add what you want now and don't ever change it, lol.

I was told that they eat cardinals in nature. These are too small to do so, but having a group of cardinals will help them relax and eat prepared foods.

Last thing, PP bath was effective for me when mine first got in. Make sure you have some on hand and don't over do it.

Thanks for suggestions Peat. Good to see you around again.

The little guys are eating and growing like weeds. Soa far these guys are proving to be extreamly hardy, very alert and always front and center begging for food.

Couldn't post pictures for a while, so I thought i'd post some updated pictures to record the growth. All six are still doing well and developing nicely.

Gorgeous Angels! Would you say they're easier to keep than rumored?

Well, yes and no. The biggest hurdle is the acclamation process. Once they are acclimated they are fine. Uaru fernandezyepezi, Heckel Discus & Altum Angels all share this issue of overcoming the initial acclamation process. I have mine eating NLS "GROW" along with plankton, mysis shrimp and spirulina brine shrimp. The last batch I had I was only able to raise one to adulthood out of eight but this group is doing much better so far and I learned a thing or two. IMO they are more difficult than Heckel Discus initially, I have no experience with Uaru ferns so I can't say how they relate to them.
