New baby Delhezi - food advice

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Add beefhearts to the diet. Trim the fats first. Never fed it to my bichirs but I heard that the bichir's size explodes after being fed beefhearts. only feed them to babys. Not too much though.

+1. Been feeding my grow outs beef heart on Sundays, fish fillets/shrimp/chopped silver sides on Saturdays, and hikari carnivores the rest of the week. From a 3" baby, my del grew to 7.5" in just 3 months. Got pretty fat too. He is a really heavy eater and really active tho he doesnt have markings like yours. Goodluck with your del!

He's in a 75 and is hanging out under the tree stump most of the time with 2 of the little catfish. I'll have to find a way to get food down to him. He isn't aggressively chasing after food but I've only had him 24 hours.

I feed my sene new era catfish, tilapia, blood worms, and shrimp when we are having it for dinner. He seems happy. Eats like a mad man no matter what I drop down to him. Swims a lot he is def not a lazy poly.

from my bichirs, my delhezi is the most active feeder, eating anything and a LOT, it actually makes it very unpleasant, with his belly exploding and still snatching food away from the other less active eaters in there, like my retropinnis and my tiretrack eel. i mostly feed different types of pellets, cut shrimp, smelt, pangasius mussels and occasionally beefheart

So far I've been feeding mysis, bloodworms and sinking carnivore pellets. I have only seen him eat twice but I'm sure he is picking up the leftovers. I have only had him a few days so he is still pretty shy.

Fed somre more mysis just now. He was actually out of his tree stump lying on the substrate and chased down a couple pieces. Had my wife hold the tape measure while I took a photo, he's just a little guy.

My Del is 6.25" and still has them. Does look cool, almost wish they kept them. I also have a 7.5" weeksii that has them also. With him it looks like ears and almost looks like a puppy dog when he looks at you and his gills are out.
