I finally tracked down a snakehead!! Im so happy I beat the import/selling ban that's going to come to bc in the next month or 2, I called ever fish shop I could find and acted like a rash that would not go away lol, until one guy finally called me up and said he found me a baby micropeltis or some Gachua's if im interested, and OH yes I was very interested, so I picked the micropeltis. he ordered in 2, but I only wanted 1. The Micropeltis is one I really wanted, that or a couple aurantimaculata, but they are hard to find here apparently. still looking but I don't think ill ever find one locally, and now I got this guy im not really interested anymore, maybe one day. I got this guy in with my gold fish, fire eel, scromb payara and a blue lobster and some rosies, its a 75 gallon I believe, I think I might spend $500 and pick up a 150g setup out of kijiji or craigslist in the next few weeks, or wait till another 220 pops up and pick that up which is what im thinking, I got a few months until I need the space so ill just keep my eyes peeled. I plan to build a huge plywood tank when I finally buy a home after I leave BC and go to alberta with my new welding tickets. which is why I chose the micropeltis, a huge impressive fish in a huge tank is what I have always wanted and now its all coming together :) If this guy turns out to be half as impressive as some of the members fish here, im going to be so happy! thanks for looking everyone. before anyone askes, the gold fish were food for my Oscar I no longer have, and the rosies were for the payara which is not eating at all from what I can tell, I think I might lose him to be honest. but I did get 15 rosies yesterday I seen the snakehead grab 1 as soon as they hit the water, and this morning I notice there is only 10 now, so unless the snakehead managed to eat another 4 last night, then the payara must have grabbed a few, my fire eels don't eat nothing but bloodworms and the the lobster, well im not sure what hes eating, I put bloodworms into his fav tube he chills in all the time but never actually seen it eat. I sure hope this payara don't decide to eat this snakehead while its still food size. ill just keep plenty of these rosies in there all the time.

I really don't understand why my pic seem to turn sideways and upside down when I post them here. maybe someone can chime in what you guys are doing different when you post pics on this site?

When you save the pics on your PC, you need to open the file from the start menu and rotate them... then save them. Now you can post them (assuming they are camera pics like my iphone does haha).

Nice pick up though! Wish I could keep one:cry:

make sure u make a huge tank cause they get really big man .congrats on getting it but just realize that eventualy u prob wont b able to keep anything with it .if u get a chance take a look at my threads it will give u an idea what ur getting into .

I have been reading so much on these guys before I got them crazyfreak204, it was your fish that helped inspired me to choose the micropeltis to be honest, along with threads dedicated to the giant snake heads. and what ever bits I can find on the web. I keep reading contradicting info tho, like I read if they grow up with the other species that were in the tank first, they will sometimes live peacefully with them, but wont allow anything new to enter its tank at that point. but I read that they will always eat everything in it tank at some point or another? did you try having other species with yours? I think im going to go get the other red at the shop, so at least i will have 2 fish in the beast of a tank i build. just for the simple fact that its pretty much now or never as far as getting another one. a 150 or 220 will be a good home for them for a year or 2 and if they turn on there tank mates i can always remove the tank mates and set this 75 gallon back up and still have at least 2 fish in the massive tank ill build, instead of just one, hopefully they don't mind the tank mates and can have them all in one tank, but its up to them as for how they want to play this game i guess.

About US$1.64 for 10 fishes.

Enjoy the view :)

ya i have tried to add fish in with them. i had an rtc that lived with them for about a year and a half i then removed it to give them more room but when the rtc out grew the other tank he was in i tried placing him back in the tank and they ended up killing it .the rtc was 24 inches and my boys were about 20 or so .i have also tried to put a silver aro in with them that was more then six inches bigger and that did not work either they killed it to .so my advice is not to mix anything in with them but i have always said fish are like humans when it comes to attitude cause not all of them act the same way towards other fish .good luck with them they are by far my favs i watched mine grow from 5 inches and they are now 30 inch plus and residing in a 680 all by themselves .

Congrats on picking him up before the ban. You were almost stuck living without one just like the rest of us on the other side of the pond.

BTW He looks good.

snakehead feeders... ouch, hurts the heart to see that :P I went to get the other one right after I posted last and it was sold already, so now I have the one, they said they are bringing more in so im going to get another one maybe 2. I plan to build a cage similar to your cage crazyfreak204, 8'x4'x2' tall is what im thinking, I think that will house a few of these guys just fine. im going to keep my fish together and hope for the best, if I notice one missing one day then ill remove the rest of the tankmates and keep just the micropeltis together is my plan. Bulldovii, the for the kind words, I was thinking just that, I have always loved them, my favorite fish since I was a kid, but always just said ill get one one day, then this Burnaby lake thing here in BC that got the scare of the people, and now the ban coming im like well, looks like its got to be now or never, at least now ill have these post to prove I got my fishies prior to the ban :) lol I read micropeltis seem to live together find in groups, is that groups of micropeltis or any snakehead? like could I have a couple micros and a couple say aurantimaculata my second favorite snakehead? just a though if I can find any before the ban.
