New baby!

Well it's been an exciting 24hours!
Went to a lsf yesterday afternoon and found a shoal of 2.5"-3" Colombia Shark Cats and just couldn't help myself. Got the biggest healthiest looking one and he is amazing!
He ate soaked dehydrated bloodworms two hours after being introduced to the tank, has a round little belly and is not too skittish to my hand (swimming through my fingers and even stayed to rub against them a few times)
I have big hopes for this little guy :D

Also, woke up this morning to find 12 new fancy guppy fry in my breeding tank, and looks like there will be more to come!

Will have better pics of the CSC soon hopefully. He's very friendly just very active and wont pause for a photo op. (still from a video sorry for the size and quality)

I just re-counted and the count is now 22!!!:eek:
So now I got 22 Fancy fry and 12 feeder fry
And three tanks set up in a very small dorm room, soon to be 4
 
lol should have known ... the little hearts are a give away lol ... wel Mommy try not to let them get out of hand... seperate the males out an control the breeding or you'll be buried in guppies in no time. you can sex them at about a week old ... even though the are onlt sexually mature at around 3 months...it's better safe than sorry lol
 
Maybe I should start a guppy pond so that I can give my fish some snacks now and then!!!
 
No worries Bass, I get that mistake a lot.:grinyes: And quite frankly, I don't know a lot of girls who would have a whole tank set up as The Dukes of Hazzard, well, I don't know many girls have a thing for the biggest most aggressive fish they can find either... ;)
I will defiantly be sexing them asap and separating, but the feeders are over a week, and I'm unable to sex them yet??

That was actually my first idea behind it, safer than getting feeders from the store. These are my first two batches, and I was thinking of trying to make a little extra money off the fancies since the lfs's around here don't stay stocked in nice fancies very often. (little extra cash is always a good feeling to a college student) Help support my new Colombia Shark Cat baby too :thumbsup:

Sometimes it takes alittle longer.. or you need to use a flashlight (backlight them) and a maginfiying glass... Seriously! LOL

Good luck with the earning extra cash.. easiest way I have found to sell fancies for anything remotly profitable was through craigslist and even then it wasn't all that great... the LFS's offer crap money for them around here.

I'm just doing it for snacking reasons for my younger cats and something to throw in the tank if I'm out of town for a few days to keep them busy LOL

Thanks, I figured I'd try craigslist. Fish (specially small ones) seem to go pretty fast around here. (only one lfs in town, and its the only place you can get fish) so hopefully I do alright. Any little bit of extra cash helps out and figuring the lfs was selling these male fancies for $6 and the girls for $3 I figure I can make some profit starting out with somewhere around 25-30 fancy fry last count (I think she's finally done). :nilly:

The feeder fry are on reserve for my baby CSC. I'm sure he'll like them:grinyes:
