New background setup

I was given a juwel rio 300 the other week, so i thought i'd setup another CA Cichlid tank.

I found a rocky background at my lfs, which was reduced to clear. I think it had been used as it was quite dirty, still a bargain and nothing a good clean couldn't fix. I like to use the background as a filter, so i drilled two inlet holes on the left hand side and a outlet hole on the right. Two pieces of fine mesh is siliconed behind the inlet holes, this ensures that no fish can get trapped behind the background.

The background is then siliconed in place. There is a 2" gap at the bottom, so this is filled in with filter sponge.

Cheers lads, i'm just letting the silicone cure, so it should be ready to fill tomorrow. I've got loads of filter media ready and matured in the other tanks, so fish introduction can be on the same day.

what fish are you putting in nutty? are the nanoluteus going in this tank?

Yes mate how did you know? I'll also put a small shoal of platties in there as dithers.
