NEW BANJAR RED ADDED TO COLLECTON

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
No, people(other Aro experts, some work @ farms) I've talked to said Banjar Red is G2 Red=G1.5 Red. G1.5 is just another market gimmick. Grade 1 Red is a Super Red (Scleropages legendrei).

I've visited farm Indonesia and Singapore and directly talk to peoples that works there. G1 red are those that are higher quality. G2 red are those only to turn yellow or orange. The "1.5" is due to that fish whole body of a green aro a half red which refers to the fins. Meaning the "1" is green and ".5" is red. That is why it's called the 1.5 red. The number 1.5 is not a grade. Talk to some people directly face to face in Asia. It will give you more info than typing words online. Also offer them cigarettes. They love smoking while talking.

I guess all those people on AF are wrong then. Majority say 1.5 Red is same thing is G2 Red which is same thing as Banjar Red. I tried searching on AF, "Grade 2 Red", all I found was picture of Banjar Red, being called G2 Red/1.5. Besides I've never seen people calling their orange colored SR's, Grade 2 Red. I always see people calling their Banjar Red "Grade2 Red". I would love to visit the farms when I'm older. I'm still too young. :grinno:

I'm trying to look for some old pics of my grade 2 red if I can still find it. It was yellow and color and even the tail and kinda look like a golden aro. But it got that greenish back shade. If the shine went creeping to 6 level it could mistakenly by a newb as a golden xb.

Banjar red is just a banjar red or 1.5 red. Banjar red is not a grade 2 red. Grade 2 red are red aro that turn yellow or just orange. Grade 1 red are the chilli red and blood red or what we all call super red. I thought you knew. This was in the old post a long time ago.

To the OP nice Banjar red!!!

Interesting. So what do you suppose they label these two different grades on their certificates?

Nice G2 by the way! Do they go for a lot over there in Canada? I always considered Kaiju premium sellers, never knew they dealt with Banjars. Personally i'm a fan of the G2 but for slighty less, i could get a Yellow-tail Green which is my all time favourite Asian Arowana! Especially if you WTT them, they look stunning!

I consider this a "high grade G2".

G1 red (chilli red or blood red or any higher quality red arowana) and G2 red (orange red or yellow red or low quality red arowana) are both red arowana (Scleropages legendrei). Banjar red aka 1.5 red are cross of Scleropages macrocephalus x Scleropages legendrei or Scleropages formosus x Scleropages legendrei. A yellowtail asian arowana may considered by many as part of banjar red when infact yellowtail arowana is a natural occuring wild arowana found in Borneo. It's not a crossbreed. Yellowtail is called scientifically Scleropages macrocephalus.

Banjar red and yellowtail cost $300 CAD here. But depends on the seller. Sometimes price is lower than $300 or higher.

I'm just asking you what do the farms name the G2 and G1.5 Reds since you claim they are different, so surely the farms name them differently on the certificates. Surely they don't name G2s the same as G1s yet you claim they are the same (Scleropages Legendrei). Don't get me wrong, i didn't say the Yellowtail is a Banjar. I know a farm that breeds pure Yellowtail Greens. Been looking to get one for awhile but i'm putting it off till' i get a bigger tank.
