however this is gonna turn out to be a nice male, keep up the good work and keep us updated...... where did this umbee come from ? There is a very stunning bloodline that runs in the bay and I have to admit IMO it is the top Rio Mag bloodline I have seen. :eek:

Im glad you guys like him/maybe her. Thanks lopaka, i was wondering if it really did have potential or people are just being polite. Anytips to make it a "stunner" as jose would say?

yea it really does have potential...... as for tips its really in his genetics, all you can do to optimize those genetics is give him quality food and I clean environment.

question is where did your friend get his and I'll let you know, u seen a pic of 1 produced from the pair I'm talking about ;)
 
I thought the guy told me it was a wild one from don conkel. But....i will double check and try and figure out. Its nice to know the line of a fish but i guess how it looks wont change :). Since its been in my tank the laat week the colors are starting to show much better
 
I've always wanted an Umbee, but I've never seen them in my LFS. This is probably good though because I don't have the tank space. I'm pretty jealous though, he/she/it looks nice.
 
100% male. 2 thirds of the dorsal fin of females is black or dark when young-front to back- similar to other cichlids like festas. A VERY LUCK MISTAKE
