New Bichir Floating

Hey all,

Received a 9” Palmas in the mail today, acclimated her then added her into the tank. For most of the day she’s been floating in the corners of the tank, and when she does go down to the bottom, it seems she has trouble actually staying down.

Is this just gas? Anything I can do for her?

No, not that I can tell. No lumps or bumps on her stomach.

I agree but the OP stated the bichir has a hard time staying down.

turn the temp up to 86 and it will fix the issue. usually cold water will cause the bichirs to be bloated

Well it’s been 2 days now since I added her to the tank. She’s still just floating up at the surface unfortunately. Any ideas?

As long as it’s not upside down it should be fine one of my baby delhezis would float behind the filter for the first month or so but was fine
