As long as you don't clean your filter out right now, you SHOULDN'T have too much trouble with ammonia or nitrite. Just keep checking them regularly and do frequent SMALL water changes if needed. As for the gills I don't know. My Delhezi's come and go.

well, i did clean my wool filter because it was full of red dye and my filter box will probably overflow if i didnt cleaned it. but i didnt clean my ceramic rings and bio balls. do you think that will suffice?
