"NEW" Big FIREMOUTH Beast!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah, he's almost as big as the Big Male I had last year, that sadly is no longer with us... He was a much deeper older fish... probs from a different location to where this guy originated from. You do get different body types in Firemouths depending on their or their ancestors catchment zone.

Here's a MONSTER FIREMOUTH found on the web... they do develop Nuchal humps but not to the degree of Red Devils...

i think my male is only quite young still but the bruiser in the web pic is probs ancient and above adverage in size.

This big male is a total beast!! He's attacking the other male FM for fun (he smashed him into the rocks with such force) and enjoys sparing with the other breeding pairs particularly the smaller but very aggressive C Cutteri

FMs are a very sociable species that love to feel dominant in a pecking order. This Big male is very much the boss of the tank now.

Great looking FM.. they are one of my favorites as the firemouth was my first ever cichlid, and first fish I kept when I jumped back into the hobby 2 years ago.

I've moved on to the larger fish, but in the back of my mind I'd still love the idea of a huge tank with 6+ at the last firemouths. I'd love to watch them spar all day.
