Nice.
What are you keeping him in?
Full enclosure pics?
Looks like a cool set up.

Thanks! He's in a 40breeder. The tank really isn't all that great but he will be moving into an 8x4 real soon so who cares. I will get some pics up soon of the enclosure.

Here is his setup.

By way very cool lizard:D will find a way to get me at least one in the future. But one very important thing: the enclosure its very aceptable however are thouse piled rocks glued together or something? If not do that or replace them with a log or something, in my experience its a very precarious situacion and the reason I only use lonely rocks and only cork for the caves, many things bad can happen, the lizard digs behind them to build a den and it falls on it, you acidentely wille trying to grab it make one of the rocks fall, etc, the risk isnt worth it;) I unfornatly had to learn the bad way many years ago:( Also make shure the rocks lay on the cage floor, not on the beding

thanks coura I will remove the rocks;). I had them in my fish tank and they looked really nice so I just put them in. And considering tegus are burrowing lizards I should really be more careful. It's kind of impossible for me to put the rocks on the bottom of the tank because there is atleast 4inches of substrate in there. Matbe I will find some wod at the petstore...

Pretty cool set-up.
I have the same type of basking area for my beardie but I use a thin piece of slate instead of a large rock. Slate pieces at home depot are a $1.10 or something like that, probably cheaper.
I'm planning to raise a b&w out in a 40 breeder once I move my beardie into a 4'x2'

Very cool RR!

I'm Toby_H on Tegu Talk ;)

I second the idea of slate... I have a piece of flat rock in my '08 Varnyard Tegu's cage. She burrows under it frequently...

I didn't have issues with mine... but I've read a lot of peoplethis year are having issues with babies eating substrate, good move on using coco fiber.

Do you plan on hibernating yours? Last year my girl went down 100% on her own despite being in a 80*F fishroom at 80% humidity... and stayed down for 5 months. I was quite nervous about it but it went very smooth.

I suggest you go for a 4' x 2' intermediate cage if possible. Yours will outgrow that 40 gal real quick... but will be lost in a 8' x 4' at that point. My girl is 30" and is on an enclosed deck with her cage door open. I have been quite surprised at how little time she actually ventures out of her cage.

Mine went straight into the 4' x 2' last year when I got her, and has been fine in it all this year... next year she'll get the big upgrade...
