Cheers pal that's great. What's best bet for keeping the plants nice and growing. I've dropped bit of school boy error u see as I've put only gravel in my tank. Nothing under it for plants so mine are only planted into the gravel. How shall I best go about keeping the plants alive n healthy now? Do I need co2 system or fertilizer to pour into water. I'm a total novice on the planted front.
Dont worry about the gravel.Floating cover is a must with these channa. Ideally a complete floating cover which limits the bottom layer to very low light tolerant plants that wont need CO2 or ferts due to the dim lighting. I use lots of driftwood along with ferns, moss & anubias. These all attach directly to the wood so substrate wont matter and the subtropical channa so its really not worth investing in high tech substrates and rooted plants. Ill stick the occasional sword into the substrate but they never last.
For bleheri i highly recommend going with a thick layer of anacharis, they are nest builders and as they mature they really seem to like it,water sprite is also another great floater thar forms a thick matt. I use both along with duckweed in my tanks.
Alright maudsley glad you got sorted out with what you wanted (in the end :banghead , some of the staff aren't the most clued up in there only a select few (what did the server look like ? )
