New born rays, what to feed?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I had new rays before just a few months back, bought back probably just a few hours after their birth.
Took about 2 days before they start eating, had a ray similar sized to them eating a home mix of MP, scallop and talipia.
Never had to do anything special to get them to eat, pigs, all of them. Lol

Edit: never had any special food, just the home mix the entire time.

Day 4 and no luck yet. And one of the pup is losing a bit of weight. Any advices?

I'm not really sure, I would attribute my succsss to having a stingray that is already eating the food in there with them. Took them a while to get use to the food, first few days after they start eating they are only eating one piece per feeding before losing interest.

Took about a week before they were eating properly.

So I guess my advice is to mix them with a similar sized buddy that is actively eating. If not the advice given by the others are pretty solid.

Ok noted. I will try it. Thx a lot!

giar giar , sorry if this is silly question

That crate you have the pups in, I know you said there is acrylic at the bottom but i also see net on top
Are the pups swimming on the net?
If the pups are swimming on the net, could the strange texture not be stressing them out?
Have you tried small pieces of earth worms?

Haha this is the pic from side view MariaS MariaS :)

I havent tried earthworm yet... i will try it today.. this is so stressing lol

day 12, one died, i discovered white string attached from his anus. the fact i never fed my rays any live food makes me wonder where that was coming from?

then today, day 13, and they all died... ='(

i need to figure out what did i do wrong before my other pregnant rays is giving birth in about 2.5 months from now. help please?

July 1 : i moved them to the 50cm x 70cm x 70cm clean water chamber of my 180 gal sump. i put divider between their area and the return pump so they dont get suck in. i offered them frozen bloodworm, no luck
july 2 : they were still in the sump's clean water chamber. i offered them frozen bloodworm, no luck
july 3 : they were still in the sump's clean water chamber. i offered them frozen bloodworm, no luck
july 4: they were still in the sump's clean water chamber. i offered them frozen bloodworm, no luck
july 5 : 1 of the pup died. i moved the remaining 2 to the 80 gal aquarium. i offered them ghost shrimps.
july 6 : the 2 pups died in the 80 gal aquarium.

so from the time lines above, what might cause the pups to die?

what should i have done differently?

Thanks!
