New- bought complete setup with eel- now help!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
you probly stirred up a bunch of loose decay when moving the tank causing the high nitrates. I know when i rearrange my LR it cause mine to shoot up

do i really have to let it sit for 24 hours!!! I have been mixing it until is is dissolved and not cloudy and then siphoning into the filter box. I am feeding frozen krill and silversides. He ate like 10 3 inch silversides yesterday and today. Is that too much? He still seemed hungry. He is eating from a pair of tongs, it's really cool. Nitrates are now down to somewhere between 20 and 40 ppm. (stupid test strips came with the tank, I have ordered liquid tests) I have contacted pro clear aquatics twice now to try and figure out how to get a replacement cup for my skimmer... with no reply yet. The filter is running fine now that I got the water level lowered in it alittle. Thanks for all the help...I guess i will be buying more instant ocean and doing more water changes, about 50 gallons every couple to few days until I get the nitrates under control. I am thinking about adding a trigger or a puffer eventually, any thoughts on the best tankmates? Any chance that another eel would be possible?

the biggest issue facing eel owner's is overfeeding most will eat till they die I feed once a week maybe twice that's good enough for a saltwater eel depending on the species of course. other question's will depend on the eel you own.
