Some people are very sensitive to that sort of smell! And let's face it, poop, (generally - before we get the exception to the rule police) smells.
But if the rabbit has a suitable sized enclosure, good thick layer of absorbent substrate and it's cleaned and washed every day, there really shouldn't be a smell that bad. I have two entire bucks who have particularly strong pee and poop, but even they don't really smell if cleaned out daily. Perhaps I'm too used to cleaning out Brazilian Tapir enclosures.. THAT stinks

Don't forget to feed plenty of hay every day to help wear the buns continuously growing teeth. Plus it ensures good digestive tract health
I had a rabbit many years ago that was a gift from a friend. Actually he breeds rabbits for meat so this was a very lucky one. Once that fur ball understood we werent out to get him he´s personality started to come out really nicely. He didnt like or allowed anyone to hold or touch him, however asside from that he was allmost like a dog, followed us everywhere, ate at the same time that we did and took "cat naps" in the afternoon. He was really on the "cute side", he did pretend chassings, he explored every corner of the house and cohabited just fine with all the turtles, iguanas, etc. He was a GREAT PET, miss him. I dont remenbar him giving up any significant odor, bu then again he had a yard to roam.

She goes through the hay like crazy!! And she love oats in her pellets
Your lucky your parents let you get a bunny after mine was dead I wasn't allowed to have another. Mine was so sweat. She was kind of like a dog she wandered around climbed up onto the couch and slept on me and was nice in general. She died from heat stroke.

No she wasn't just a regular rabbit she was a rabbit bred from a line of snow bunnies in Alaska.
