New but old equipment help

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I appreciate it zenz. This is the first time I have used a ugf. All this stuff just did not come with the stones. I also have two jet pump looking things, the four straws and breeder box left. There are four filter tubes and three hoses? The hoses do not fit down the filter tubes. hmm

I just connected the "straws" lol to the filter tubes and connected the straws to the airline. Looks good but there is still four filter tubes and three air lines. Also there is the two jet pumps left and breeder box, which has a air line connecter with an air stone in it.

those hard plastic small tubes go down into the large risers...Air line to the top and airstones to the bottom...they are not nessasary because I have just ommited them and used the soft airline, all the way to the airstone...
Those powerheads fit into the large risers.
They go in instead of a filter top and airline. They will provide More flow than the airstones...

OK I got everything set up... I just have the pumps left and the breeder box which I don't really need right now. So just the two pumps. They don't have hang on attachments or anything??

Here look at where the powerheads "CAN" go if you want more flow

Ok thanks. So with the supplies I was given it is supposed to be setup up: Aerator to the gang valve, two air lines to the risers, one air line to the breeder box. The two power heads to the remaining risers... Correct?

Thats correct.I use the powerheads on the outer lift tubes and the bubblers on the inner.Point them both forward.

Correct....

and

If my memory serves me right for this system to be effective you'll need 1" and no more than 1.5" depth of regular size aquarium gravel covering the UGF plates...

What do you plan on stocking this 55g with?

If you need more filtration which you probably will, DrsFosterandSmith.com has Aqua Clear 110's for 33.99 right now.
The UGF and a AC110 would be a respectable filtering system for a 55g.

Thanks guys, and your patience zenz Im a nooby with the UGF lol

I really do not know. I got it all for freeeee, yes freee! So I am just playing it by ear.
I have another 55 with a couple large cichlids (trying to sell) and I will be restocking that tank too. Theres a beautiful silver arro in there also, Probably about 7in. he's for sale too, a 55 wont cut it for him

Got any ideas for the two tanks?
