Well they grow up to 4 feet they are from south america the need a semi aquatic enclosure, very powerful bites the climb so need branch basking area...They eat crawfish, freshwater snails that can be found at a chinese markets & also freshwater clams.....Hope this helps i wanted one but have two kids & live in a apartment still so.....i'll just wait a few years!!Good luck!! Also some crickets will do for now Large ones!!!

I know the basics lol. I was more looking for anyone with any personal experience like feeding tips, how long they take to get comfy, etc.

Yep, he's really calm. My friend imported a bunch of them, they're all pretty mellow (some hissing, one bit me). I'm gonna have to go on a quest for snail meat tonight (or at least some mussels), unfortunately there's no asian grocery stores nearby.

I curious, how did the bite feel? I'm guessing it was pretty different feeling given their unique dentition.

They have round teeth, just like a blue tongue skink. Felt about the same.

Just had a thought, I wonder if they'd take small African land snails?
