Jason, Those festae's are stunning brother! keep the pics coming

Thank you brotha:)

Jason, I moved my thread to the photo lounge since there are a lot of SLR experts that never make it in this section so maybe you and I can get a few other ideas on what to do since we are learning at the same time and don't need two threads (link below).

The festae pics are looking great! What settings are you using?

Thank you, i ran across it yesterday:) those last set of pics were in auto mode with no flash but i manually focused. it was kind of a pain waiting for them to swim into the light but those pics turned out great. ive got some more that i did in manual that ill get up later today.

pictures look sharp.. you're not using flash? you must have a very well lit tank..

my tank is too dim and i always have to set ISO400 to shoot my fish :(

Thank you and the last set were without flash. i dont have the greatest lights on my tank:)

LOL, I posted on your thread with the Umbee for sale and though you had a new camera. Nice fish and boy does it make the color pop. I still need to cough up the cash for a good camera. I thought about when I do get one I would take a class to learn the basics.

Yes i thought about taking a class too and im still looking into it.

Those festae look awesome. Pics are really starting to come together too, but lovin the festae

Thank you, but i still have alot of playing around with it;)

Here are a couple more, these ones i was working in manual mode with no flash, just messin around with the different shutter speed and Fstop.

Great photos and collection of fishes. As for Raw/fine, if you are not looking to enhance the image, or blow the images up to poster size, and speaking only in fish photography, you don't need to shoot in Raw. Without nikon's software or adobe, you may not be able to open the .NEF files. Shooting fine (jpeg) is good. it may not get the colors you want, because the camera, compresses the color for you. If you want to match the colors to your fish, you'll need to edit the Raw images. Great fishes! love the Umbee, and the Dovii!
