new canister filter - how do i cycle it

A slower flow rate will increase contact time with your bio media. Which should help colonize more bb. This will be relevant to how much media you have in your filters. I have an xp3 had it know for over 2 years and find it to be a good filter.

i have read many people rave about the xp3 but yet say they have heard bad things about the xp4 but they dont say what or substansiate it, for me so far the build quality is very good, it has a loads of space for filter mdia and its very quiet and no trapped air like the fluvals get.
