When you do service the filter do not clean all the trays at once. Alternate trays between cleanings

I clean all of them at once. Only clear out the bio material with aquarium water.

Imo don't open it for 6-8 weeks so it seeds nice and well. Also carbon isn't really needed. Some ppl don't open their cans for a year, but I prefer to have mine cleaner, so theres more gph.

I do as well but I have multiple canisters and only service one at a time, op has one only, and no exp with canisters if he cleans the whole thing there is a good chance the cycle will be broken

Yeah but I don't need Bio balls if I have Biomax right? Also after tannins are cleared out I'm going to replace carbon with plastics pot scrubbers. I'm thinking properly right or does BB offer something that the others don't?

The bb f1 was reffering to is bialogical bacteria, it takes time for your filter to cycle and build up this bactiria. If you clean the media incorrectly you will kill the bactiria and cause an ammonia spike

All he has to do is rinse it in aquarium water (aged or treated) and he's not killing anything.

Got it too many acronyms I feel like I back in the army again :) I'm following now. Yes I already rinse my Aquaclears that way and I will alternate my canister with them so as to not hit everything at once.
