It really depends what you're planning on doing with the car. An auto might be good for the drags or dyno queen/penis-extion look-how-much-hp-I've-got, but for circuit racing you'd want a manual box, and I'd say quaife, xtrac, etc would make something suitable for big hp.

The amount of people these cars have converted into Ford drivers is quite remarkable considering the rivalry between Holden and Ford.

I was and still am a Holden fan...but damn I can't get over the Ts.

Well, yeah, I was referring to the dyno queen, drag cars. That's all supras are good for!

Few Supra's are ever used for circut raceing because of the fact they are High End power Hp Cars. they are rarely chosen over Evo's or STI's, because of the fact they are not made for that sort of raceing.

1.- HEAVY car- no go for time attack
2.- High End Horsepower RW- DRAG All the Way, engine known for buildability. it's all about the HP- 800, 1000, 1300, 1400.
3.- RWD- got nothing on AWD when it comes to circut raceing.
4.- steering and suspention- needs major work for Supra's if your going Time attack style. they just aren't made for circut raceing.

they are used in circut raceing, but not as frequently as many other cars.

They are [or were] used regularly in JGTC racing, often with a 3SGTE instead of the big heavy six to help even up and reduce the weight.

As for AWD being better than RWD, I wouldn't really agree. If you look at racing (like JGTC) where the cars are all built to a similar spec then you can see that the AWDs don't really have a distinct advantage over the RWDs. In fact most circuit cars are 2WD (usually rear) from touring cars to formula 1 and A1GP, AWD's tend to be used more in the WRC, which is what they were built for.
