ok looked at a car today 1990 eclipse 500 bucks maybe able to get him down to 400...wat should i do...any ideas...not sure on the mileage but looks good...body is in good condition..

Whether to get him down to 400.00 depends on if you have 500.00, how desperate he is and if the car is worth 500.00 or 400.00

well he got it at auction 500 is nothing i can get that probly from my grandmother lol..its a nice looking car..im gonna test drive it and see how it runs..

i'd more than test drive it, i'd get a mechanic to take a look at the car before you buy it, it may run okay at the moment but could fall apart the day after you buy it, and with a car that old i wouldn't be suprised if it did. i've seen my fair share of those things happen.

ooo yeah i was def gonna get it checked lol..no doubt...i was waiting for u to respond to the thread xr...but yea im goin back today to look at it..and then ill get it checked...xr if i buy the car wat do u think i should work on first...i trust your oppinion on cars the most..not to bash anyone else on the site...

well before, trying any sort of aftermarket parts, make sure that the parts all ready in the car will last you for a good amount of time. once everything works to the top ability then you can start putting after market parts on it. when selecting aftermarket parts it really depends on what your going for in a car, if your going for style you can work with your body and paint, in most of my cases, the cars were mainly track cars, so i worked with brakeing and suspention, then body and paint, then engine parts. i'm going to guess that your just useing the car as a daily driver, being that you are 19, if your going for performance, but not anything in the 300-400hp range, than it would be okay to add some basic engine mods, but high horsepower cars need to be able to handle that power. the worst case senerio that i remember was another supra entusiast who, had around 1100hp in the engine, but was still useing completly stock brakes.

Most cars you get for 500.00 aren't in best shape so it's important not to get your hopes up and be reasonable. If it needs a couple things(nothing major) than it's the norm for 500.00. But it's not a 2k car or a 5k car meaning there's gonna be things wrong as long as it's not the motor going/gone or transmission or something major.

Honestly with the resale of that car I wouldn't put alot of money in it. If it's turbo do some free/cheap mods, if not I'd leave it alone unless you grow attached to it and save for something better to mod if thats your objective.

Thought you had a maxima dovii? or am I thinking of someone else?

no i do have a maxima..which will be my daily driver, and the eclipse(if notin major is wrong) will be my weekend, car i want to make this fast i want a car to take to the track and screw around in...

note that with track cars, besides the overal cost of the mods that you'll put in the car for the track, you'll most likely be beating pretty bad on it, and you'll have to replace brakes, and tires a good deal. and with the danger of the occasinal "oopsey" in the track wall, you'll have to pay for that work.

it will cost you way more than you think to keep it running, and another car at the same time.
